SOoo many people! We want to use this page to try and thank you to all the peeps who have helped us along the way: mostly by putting us up (and therefore putting up with us!) and putting themselves out by their hospitality . . . So in some semblance of order, here we go:
Mike’s mum Pam for putting us up immediately after we moved out of Shriv. And Peter for doing the same and also taking us to the airport and picking us back up! Matt & Annette in LA for being our first stop and lending us their car, aswell as a bedroom for a month while touring the (vast) area. Robin and Tamara for housing us in Morgan Hill, CA for a month, inc Mike’s bday! Jane’s bro JT in Calgary for allowing us to move house for him and having a spare car! Our mate Jez from Shriv ‘05 for meeting us for a night’s camping at Kinbrook Park, Canada. JT’s mate Eddie in Vancouver for inviting us to a top floor hotel to watch the firework display. Robin again for meeting us in san Fran for acouple of beers before we flew to NZ! Long term family friends Margaret & Geoff in Auckland for not only picking us up at the airport at 6am, but housing and feeding us for a week! Ian and Mel (Shriv ‘09) from Canberra for the lift from Sydney and then subsequent stays totalling about 2 weeks! Rob & Annie in Sydney – great apartment in Woolomooloo with a great view of Sydney. Dennis & Gerry in Bunbury, WA. Not for the first time we have seen them on our travels, the first being HK in 1994! Sally Orr in Adelaide – great to have met her in SHriv, even better to stay with her in OZ; plus she picked us up at the airport with a slab of beer in the car! Jonno, aka Brydon in Melbourne. Getting us from the campervan depot was great, as was time spent catching up and letting us use their motor! Across Melbourne then to Bart, fresh from Shriv, infact he left there after we did! Selflessly putting us up in his apartment and trusting us with his muscle car! Dave “Hughsey” who rented a cracking ‘beach-house’ in Sorrento, Melbourne, and sharing it with us for 5days. Getting us to andfrom the airport was dynamite, too! Back to Sydney, staying in a different part and seeing Renee for the first time in 1/2 a decade! Despite the heatwave, she put us up for 5 days and took us about in air-con comfort! And finally our last 10 days in Hong Kong and seeing Damian for the first time on his ‘native’ soil! Cool flat which is actually 2 knocked together, was great to stay with someone we’ve known the same amount of time as we’ve known eachother – good to relive some uni-day travails, play footy and drink beer! Charles and Noreen, Jane’s folks, who have supplied us with home updates and regular emails, esp White Rabbits which turned into a competition between Jane and her dad as to who could email first!! Which brings to return ticket home, and back to the Crowne Plaza hotel at LHR, proving literally that what goes around, comes around.
So now to future thanks……thanks in advance to those who offer to buy us beer ’till we get a job!!
